I went to Tim's house last night to watch the Leafs-Senators game. It was quite possibly the worst hockey game I have ever seen. Bad decisions by almost every part of the team. Pat Quinn kept putting on the same stupid players who weren't trying or making huge mistakes. Why did they talk Calle Johansson out of retirement? HE SUCKS! He gave the puck up several times. Every player was trying to clear the puck out of the zone by shooting it up the middle. I don't know anything about playing hockey but even I know that's not the right play. After that, I went down to Cal's house. Bible study was just finishing up. Fame (a.k.a. Katherine Whyte) and I walked in just when Cal was praying. Oops. Melanie, continuing to demonstrate her claim on the greatest girlfriend of all-time, bought a Snickers cake for my birthday. It was delicious. Then she gave me her leftover BBQ chicken pizza from Kelsey's. Guess what's on the menu for lunch today?!? Mmmmm, BBQ chicken pizza. After that, I came home, made a copy of the first Gospel Gangstas CD for Bill Power and set up the songs for a disc of Coldplay b-sides for him too. And I finally started copying stuff I had videotaped on the fancy camera to VHS. Mars ILL, the Listener, Pigeon John (x2), N'didi Cascade & Eekwol all on one tape. How's that for productive?!? Then I went to the gym this morning, worked out the back and shoulders and did thirty-five minutes of cardio. Damn. It's only 2PM too! Sweetness. That's the update. No jokes. No assessments. Just the facts. PEACE! Thursday, April 08, 2004
I am in utter amazement at the prolific posting by Blondel. He's a blogging machine lately! Today was a pretty good day at work. Closed a couple files, did a fair bit of writing and paperwork junk. Now it's on to a four day weekend! Yeah, that's right, FOUR days. I'm government, fool, not like that 'regular Joe' chump-sized THREE days. Very nice. I'm going to celebrate by parking my ass on Whytey's couch, pound some pizza and cheer on the home team (go Leafs go!) before heading down to Cal's to connect with people and hang out. It's my birthday weekend, according to Melanie. She is taking me out Saturday night to a genuine BBQ restaurant in Toronto. I can't wait. If you know me, you know my love of BBQ. So much so that I have adopted the southern American manner of referring to all foods done on the BBQ or related to BBQ as simply that - BBQ. I'm not down with the racism, ignorance or lack of enunciation but I am fond of the BBQ. Melanie already got me a subscription to Cottage Life Magazine. She's the best girlfriend ever. And you can't have her. The girl is mine. Back off. I read a seriously hurting article on some community group in Windsor who are trying to get legislation changed so that kids can't be apprehended by the Children's Aid Society. Now, I'm all for people expressing their concerns and seeking change, that's fine. The fact that they are likely people who were caught screwing up and putting their kids at risk (if they didn't actually hurt them) and now are trying to shift responsibility is not my main concern. The big stupid move in the article is quoting a doctor. That's right, giving the doctor's opinion was dumb. You'd think that it might be good because doctors are usually authorities. Yes, medical doctors are authorities on medical issues. This doctor is a medical doctor. In fact, she specializes in cancer. She was quoted as stating that the C.A.S. gets paid for apprehending children, which gives the C.A.S. motivation to apprehend kids more often. What?!? First off, the apparent intention is untrue. We do not get extra money for taking kids into care. We get money to pay for their needs and that's it. There's not extra money hanging around for other things. Second, I get way more work from placing a kid in foster care so if I don't have to (i.e., the kid is safe), you can be sure I'm not placing him in care. Third, I don't get ANY money for apprehending kids. I get work and grief! An oncologist is doling out information on child welfare? Would anyone listen to me if I started commenting on the state of leukemia in the medical field? They might listen - before telling me to shut up and re-insert my head into my colon. I hate stuff like that. I searched for information on her and plan on e-mailing her at some point this weekend. Maybe there is some explanation and she does have some reason for talking. Maybe she'll be adult enough to respond. Who knows? I'll have to try and I'll let you know. Well, enjoy your long weekend. Bottle Breaker #2 is in Stoney Creek. #3 is supposed to be semi-legitimate.
